Facebook and Microsoft are reportedly joining forces in creating a new video chat feature using Skype technology that Microsoft recently bought. Facebook is already tightly integrated with Microsoft's search engine - Bing and this is the next step for these two giants.
Google is intensively testing it's new "Facebook killer" - Google Plus and according to first impressions, it is a step forward compared to Facebook. Video chat is one of the main features of Google Plus that was lacking in Facebook.
Now, what will all this battle of the giants bring to ordinary people - us? In my opinion, it will only bring confusion. Having too many social networks is inviting war where only one can be left standing. If only Facebook and Google got together and linked their various social networks, it would be an ultimate network for everybody.
This way, we can only see division and struggle that will last for a long time. At least, nobody will dare to start charging us for the use of social networks...
